Sweet Grass Hills over yonder

Description

Forming in the early Paleogene era following the Cretaceous period of life, the Sweet Grass Hills seen in the background here, are geographic formations known as stocks, intrusive igneous rock forced up and solidified. Rising over three thousand feet, the Sweet Grass Hills draw more moisture and bring in an abundance of wildlife compared to the surrounding prairies as a consequence. Much like the Cypress Hills, the Sweet Grass Hills were not glaciated during the last ice age, making for a forest like environment.
